What the hell was that pieces? Is that an internal organ? I honestly love tattoo and find as an art. But hurting myself because of this is a different thing. For sure, this woman was not on her mind during that time
Nice design I would say... but how drung can you be to hold such extensive lost of skin?? A good friend of mine is a profi tattoo'ist - making 15-18 stunning tattoos/week.Every week he has at least 2 clients passed-out from pain - usually big strong guys ofcourse (-; An interesting example of both: human body art and pain resilience. I wonder what the final effect will look like.
wow you guys are way close minded. Yes tattoos are the #1 of body art. Since ancient times they have been doing similar art. As for the pain of it. Its just as bad as a tattoo to get cut. Just think of it this way instead of a tattoo machine they use a scalpel for the process. Yes its a newer thing hitting the mainstream but its been around longer than putting pigment in the skin. Just have an open mind about it.
Actually, sin2001, I would hate to correct you but the truth of the matter is that pigment has indeed been around longer then skin carving, at least historically. The ancient ice man Ötzi, that was found in the Schnalstal glacier in the Ötztal Alps, near Hauslabjoch on the border between Austria and Italy, has up to 57 tattoos. Ötzi is the oldest known human ever found. So, could skin carving go back beyond the tattooing of Ötzi? Of course. But, there is no known records of it. As for the skin art above. I believe it is beautiful, I would never get it myself but it is a matter of taste. To each their own.
She carved skin out of her back for a bamboo stick? I bet she got some kind of infection...and then when it tries to heal its gonna look ridiculous too..how did she sleep? Thats looks so painful
I think that of course everyone is entitled to express themselves in their own way, but I have to agree with Haley Humbaugh about the infection thing. That is a huge risk for infection and truthfully do they really know what it will look like when it heals? What if the skin grows back and then it would be totally gone, you know? And that would be a huge bummer! I mean I think it's really interesting, I have many tattoo's n stuff myself, but, you can get extremely serious infections from tattoo's alone and cutting off your skin puts you at quite a high risk for infection, and since you can't really reach your own back, someone else would have to help take care of you until it healed. Over all, it might just end up being a huge waste of time and money and your health. But to each his own. I have to commend them for trying something new at least though! Rock On ~ retroredhead85
I think thats the not so craziest/coolest thing ive seen in awhile. When i was in my mid teens i carved a ring around my left foream. it scabed over, but when it was done healing it looked badass. it got tanned and all freckly and i couldnt see it so well anymore. The day after my 18th bday i re-did it. I read somewhere they call it "scarification". I give you probs for going though it and the artist for doing a great job.
i love it, i think its amazing that someone can sit there for a piece that big though. And i'm not quite sure thats scarification, i think that is just cuts, not scraping the skin off completly, but i still think its beautiful. Only problem is that it wont last as long as a tattoo would, or at least on my body it wouldnt, my scars dissappear after a year or two, and thats for the bad ones. but still, i have to give the girl props.
This is some crazy stuff indeed! She'll be in the hospital years from now due to an infection. One should never mess with the skin like this. I worked in healthcare. This is not good...
Everybody said "crazy" to be nice, but this is so far past retarded, it's Re-Retarded. I mean it would be kind of cool, but there's no way she doesn't just look like a fire victim in a year, but hey look at the bright side- she'll have plenty of time to make up a cool story so when people ask (and they will)D*** what the F*** happened to you?!?! She won't have to say I payed someone a s***load of money to deform me on purpose. Do you like it?
